"Go Forward!"

This past weekend, we bought a bicycle for Abby. Last year, she had a tiny one that someone gave us, but Daddy accidentally ran over it backing the car out of the garage.

She's been wanting a new one all spring. Sometimes, she gets to ride the cousins' bikes, but not enough. I was thinking that I might be able to find one at a garage sale, but I didn't want to go through the whole summer and still not have one for her.

So, we did the next best thing: Walmart!

Here's Abby on her maiden voyage (if you don't count trying it out in the store)!

When she first started riding, she would pedal forward a few times, then pedal back, which makes the bike stop. So, we started and stopped all the way down the street. It took about 20 minutes to get down to Auntie's.

Now, she's starting to get the hang of it and can turn into the driveway from the sidewalk. She's even learning to use that brake for a good purpose at the end of the driveway where it slopes to the street. We still have to tell her to look where she's going because she tends to look down at her feet. It's a lot to learn all at once.

Look UP, Abby!

She's on her way!
