Fourth of July

Also known as the day I was bedridden with Strep Throat. I had felt a little lump in my throat the day before, but it really hit me on Saturday the fourth.

We got up to go to the parade. It is a big tradition to go and sit and watch all the kids, marching bands, trucks, various festival queens, politicians, lawn mowers, etc. ride by. We have been sitting close to the beginning of the parade route the past couple of years so we would be sure to get the "good candy" and not just the leftover tootsie rolls. We were not disappointed!

Here we are in our matching flag shirts. In fact, we matched at least half of the town! Thank you "big discount chain store!"

The flag flying over our local VFW post. I don't know if you can tell, but it is one of the biggest masted flags in the nation.
Sarah in her stroller ready for some parade action.
The girls with their cousin.
Abby is ready!
We let Sarah loose to collect some candy.
It didn't take her long to figure out what to do.
I didn't take a picture of the bucket-o-candy they collected (did I mention the strep throat that was clouding my mind?) but let's just say that we have enough to last to the next candy holiday.

After the parade, I went to bed and stayed there the rest of the day. The next morning, Billy took me to the ER and the doc confirmed the strep throat diagnosis. Thus started the month of "sharing the sickness." I had it three times, Billy got it twice, Abby had it once and my sister, Rachel, who was staying at our house for a week got it as well. Sorry, Rachel!! Thankfully, Sarah never got it. I think she had a force field around her because so many people were praying for her upcoming surgery.

I just finished my third round of antibiotics and I hope and PRAY we've seen the last of it!!

Tell me about it! :) I'm still on antibiotics and have a scratch or something going on in my throat. Argh! What kind of strep throat was it?
