As long as Mommy or Daddy is sitting behind him.
Yes, we have our child outside with a jacket and no shoes. But aren’t those the cutest feet ever?
Boy, does our little dude like bath time!! When we were going through all the sickness and general yucky-ness of February, a sure way to cheer up Tommy was to put him in the bath tub and let him play til he got “pruny.”
He’s not getting them nearly as often as before, but he loves the ones he gets.
He does not mind getting his face wet. He stands up and puts his head down in the water. And his little butt will be sticking up in the air. Then when he sits back up, his hair all comes to a point on his forehead. So cute!
Several months ago, Abby talked to Sarah about getting her ears pierced when she was five (the post about it is here). She warned Sarah about how it hurt and so Sarah decided not to get it done.
But last month, when we talked about her birthday coming up and how she was going to be five, Sarah said she was going to get her ears pierced. We talked at length about it and she was determined to get it done.
Today was the big day.
The girls, Hantie and I went to the mall. First we tried on some new dresses – and bought some. Then Sarah walked into the shoe store and we walked out with new shoes for them. Then we went to the ear piercing pagoda. I filled out the paperwork and got ready while we waited for the second employee to come in to work. With someone as young as Sarah, you have to get both ears pierced at the same time.
The brief second of shock after the fact.
And now we are in full melt-down.
She won’t even look at the mirror.
Poor baby. She held my neck so tight all the way back through the mall and into the parking lot.
Finally, when we got to the car, she stopped crying.
Next stop, McDonald’s (it was the closest place) for ICE CREAM!! There’s that winning smile!
She likes showing them off, now, but is still talking about the pain. It was even hard for her to look at these pictures. But I know the pain will wear off in a few days and she will love having them! “Like Mama! and Hammy (Abby)!”
I am proud of my big girl! And just a little sad that she is getting so big so fast.
Sunday night, we got 3 or 4 inches of snow. Enough that the schools were on a 2-hour delay. That afternoon, the girls wanted to play outside in the snow. I took Tommy out in his new boots to get a few pictures.
By Wednesday afternoon, the sun was shining, all the snow was melted and it was hovering around 60 degrees. The girls wanted to play outside again. We went for a walk around the block and then had some playtime in the back yard. Tommy loves the slide but is not fond of the swing.
Crazy weather this time of year, but somehow, we enjoy it all!
February is now gone. It was not an easy month. I’m glad to see it go!
Coming back after an adoption trip is never easy: trying to figure out how everything will work, trying to figure out a new person, etc. But when you add in 4 cases of strep throat, one ear infection, rounds of antibiotics, sinus trouble and fevers of unknown origins, it tends to make things a little harder.
Nevertheless, there were some happy moments and here’s the photographic evidence.
The girls both had their parent observation day in ballet class. Abby is progressing nicely in her fourth year. Sarah just likes wearing the fairy wings!
Tommy took a few outings: to the library and church. He fit right in at both. (taken with my cell phone)
Abby spent a lot of time reading.
Tommy likes books, too!
We are putting him to work around here, too!
February would not be complete without making valentines!
Basically we had lots of togetherness!! As any new family needs.
Here’s hoping March will be smoother.
